Where do I begin to tell you how the Internet changed my life? I was camping in a tent by a lake in Central Otago NZ where they shot the movie Lord of The Rings. While there I met a man named John who lived in a house backing onto the lake. He had a friend Barry who lived almost next door. They both had the same thing in common yet it was not a common thing they were doing.
They both made exquisite things out of wood. Barry made wooden toys like a bulldozer and trains. And John made bottles with wooden stoppers made out of wood. How he made them with such slender necks was a marvel to me. But as I am naturally a very curious person I asked him if this was his only income? A very personal question I know. And he replied. He made his money using a computer online.
Over the days I camped he invited me to lunch or time out for a cup of tea or a coffee. It was during these times that he shared with me all he knew about making money on the Internet. He took me into his study where he began to show me things I never knew existed. I had only one computer skill and that involved making a word document. I could copy and paste. But what John showed me that day changed my life. I was on the path to becoming a work from home person.
During the weeks I camped there I spent an hour or two with him. Each day he would show me a little bit more of his business. I was so interested. I was well and truly hooked on every word he said. I recall the moment I saw his PayPal bank account where he had the money flow into whenever someone somewhere in front of his or her computer decided to buy his book.
I was astonished to say the least. I asked many questions. And John gave me everything he had learned over the years of being what he described as an infopreneur. Being someone who marketed digital information products.
He went on to share with me all I needed to know to be able to do exactly as he was doing. Including gifting to me his idea of JV Megatrend marketing. It was on one hot summer afternoon that I just got it. John had told me I must think about what he was saying from the point of view of the wonderful life to be had when this business of Internet Marketing was the sole primary income provider. As this was the key to it. We would have long conversations about the role of the subconscious mind and its infinite intelligence.
Every night in my tent I would go back over what John had showed me. I had told him I was having trouble getting my head around things like Filezilla, Keyword Canine, Kompozer, and Web Hosting and Domain names to say the least. John must have somehow easily known I wanted to learn all he knew.
Because as I was pulling up my tent pegs. John came along the edge of the lake from his backyard carrying a large brown paper parcel. It was just starting to rain as he placed the parcel in my hands saying inside it were all the steps I needed to follow in his foot steps. The rest is as they say history. And there is a very old saying about success in life comes not from what you know but rather from who you know. John was my Internet Marketing guide and my truly great friend.
